Job Title: PrePress Manager
As a working manager, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of our prepress operations. You will be hands-on producing press-ready files and plates for offset and print ready files digital printing and wide format printing. You will work closely with the production manager to support the digital printing and wide-format departments and be hands-on when needed. You will ensure the timely production of proofing and prepress functions, while maintaining efficiency and accuracy throughout the process.
Your role will encompass the following key responsibilities:
Prepress and Proofing:
Oversee the prepress department, ensuring all files are prepared accurately and efficiently for printing.
Implement quality control procedures to ensure accurate proofing and minimize errors.
Collaborate with the creative team to review and finalize artwork for printing.
Directly work on customer files to prepare for printing.
Plating, Digital Printing, and Wide format/Signage Printing:
Manage the plating process to ensure plates are prepared correctly for printing presses.
Work with the digital printing operations ensuring that files and that workflows are automated.
Work with the wide-format and signage printing operations, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to client specifications.
Research and Software Recommendations:
Stay updated with the latest printing technologies, software, and trends in the industry.
Conduct research and evaluate new printing software to improve file and job workflow efficiency.
Make recommendations to management regarding software upgrades and implementation.
Collaboration and Integration:
Work closely with the General Manager and the production Manager on workflow integration and address any printing-related issues that stem from prepress.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including creative, production, and customer service, to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:
Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure consistently high-quality printed materials.
Continuously identify areas for process improvement and cost optimization, proposing and implementing appropriate solutions.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators to track the efficiency and effectiveness of printing operations.
EOS & Lean Thinking:
We operate using EOS as our business operating system. You will be expected to learn EOS and work to educate and motivate others to understand and follow EOS strategies and operations.
Lean Thinking to create value and drive out waste you will be expected to learn, embrace, and eventually teach Lean Methodology.
Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in printing technology, or a related field is preferred; however, tenure with 10 plus years of hands-on experience is just as acceptable.
Proven experience in managing prepress operations in commercial printing environment.
Strong knowledge of Prinergy, Enfocus Switch and rules-based-automation.
Understands all aspects of prepress, proofing, plating, digital printing, and wide format/signage printing processes.
Proficiency in using printing software and tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, RIP software, and color management systems.
Familiarity with various printing technologies, including offset printing, digital printing, and wide format printing.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced production environment.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to address printing-related issues effectively.
Ability to research, evaluate, and recommend new printing software to enhance workflow efficiency.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
Excellent communication and people skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
Knowledge of IT integration processes and experience working closely with IT teams is a plus.
